Chapter History

The Gamma Theta Chapter of Sigma Kappa was founded at California State University, Long Beach on January 29, 1955.

For more than a century, Sigma Kappa Sorority has been uniting women in lifelong friendship, creating a sisterhood  that has encompassed thousands, across generations and around the world. Since the chapter's establishment in 1955, Sigma Kappa has been continually dedicated to serving and supporting our community through campus leadership, scholarship, philanthropic projects, and school spirit. Through these activities, the women of Sigma Kappa strive to make a difference in the world of today!

The Sigma Kappa women of Gamma Theta chapter are truly an amazing group of women. Each member is unique in her beliefs and talents, but all members strive toward a common goal of helping one another and the surrounding community. The bond of sisterhood within Sigma Kappa Sorority is a remarkable tool which fosters friendships that last a lifetime. Furthermore, the women of Sigma Kappa learn skills that assist them in becoming leaders of today and tomorrow.

Though each sister's dream and goal are unique, the strength of our sorority lies not in our differences, but in our bond. From Maine to California, from 1874 until today, from sister to sister, together we are all the heart of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
